Mount Royal University

Mount Royal University

overview

Established in 1910 by the Alberta provincial government, Mount Royal University (MRU) opened its doors in 1911, initially focusing on science education. Its roots trace back to Mont Royal College, founded to provide educational opportunities for rural youth. In 2009, Mont-Royal transitioned to university status, maintaining its commitment to strengthening undergraduate programs.

This dedication was recognized in 2017 when MRU was awarded the title of best educational institution in Calgary. Students consistently rank MRU among Canada's top universities for educational quality.

MRU's four-year degree programs equip students with the skills necessary to realize their career and academic aspirations. A distinctive feature of MRU is its commitment to small class sizes, averaging around 30 students. This fosters greater interaction between professors and students compared to larger class settings.
